Job Description
The Senior Account Executive is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS). This role supports month-end and year-end closing, oversees accounts payable and receivable functions, performs reconciliations, and assists in audit, consolidation, and financial analysis activities.
Job Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping & Data Entry
Record daily transactions including sales, purchases, payments, and receipts
Update and maintain general ledger accounts accurately and promptly
Ensure all financial data is accurately entered into the accounting system
2. Accounts Payable (AP)
Review and process vendor invoices with proper authorization and supporting documents.
Prepare payment vouchers and ensure timely payments to vendors
Liaise with vendors on payment matters and resolve invoice discrepancies
Perform monthly reconciliation of supplier statements and AP ledgers
3. Accounts Receivable (AR)
Generate and issue invoices to customers based on sales records
Track outstanding balances and follow up with customers on overdue payments
Maintain accurate customer ledger accounts and resolve payment issues
Reconcile AR sub-ledger with general ledger on a periodic basis
4. Bank Reconciliation
Perform monthly bank reconciliations to match internal records with bank statements
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank and book balances
5. Monthly & Quarterly Closing
Prepare monthly journal entries including depreciation, accruals, and provisions
Maintain and update fixed asset register with acquisition and disposal records
Assist in month-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting
6. Financial Reporting
Prepare and analyze monthly Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements
Provide financial reports and variance analysis to management for decision-making
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes when required
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and yearly preparation of group consolidation, including consolidated financial statements, management reports, and relevant working schedules required for statutory submissions
7. Audit & Compliance
Support internal and external auditors by providing required documentation and listing
Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards (MFRS)
Develop and uphold effective internal control procedures within financial operations
8. Administrative & Ad-Hoc Duties
Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records
Assist with other ad-hoc tasks and finance-related projects as required by management
Job Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of working experience.
Familiarity with accounting systems such as SQL.
Sound and comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, guidelines, and statutory requirements.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity.
Highly meticulous, with strong organizational and follow-through/monitoring skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, for reporting and analysis.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a collaborative team player.
